venue brainwaves??

Hey there. We’ve been very quiet, mainly cos we’re trying to suss out the venue for the next FBB. Not sure that Brooklyn is going to work any more – they have some bookings which are going to impinge. Does anyone have any ideas for alternative venues? We have about 27 tables at FBB so it would need to be big enough to accomodate that (no, Thistle Hall isn’t big enough). I’d like it to remain relatively central to Wellington City too if we can…any ideas welcomed with open arms.

  1. What about St John’s Church Hall in Willis Street? Wellington Quilters’ Guild meets there and the hall is quite large. Or Connolly Hall, at the Catholic Cathedral in Hill Street, or the Loaves and Fishes at the Anglican Cathedral in Hill Street. Another thought would be the 1st Karori Scout Group Hall in Campbell Street in Karori – that’s huge.

  2. Perhaps the same venue, not necessarily the same day, where Frank Kitts Underground Market is held on the waterfront, Jervois Quay.

  3. Selfishly suggest The Salvation Army Hall, 209 The Parade, Island Bay because it’s my neighbourhood and the Empire cinema is across the road for coffee/snacks and its easy parking… or
Wellington Chinese Sports & Cultural Centre Inc‎
Mt Albert Rd, Berhampore, (04) 389 7746 because there’s heaps of parking… good luck!

  4. The Miramar Community Centre have a hall that they hire out and have held Market days in the past, there is ample parking close by which is not the case in Brooklyn. They are in Chelsea St, Miramar. It’s worth a try.
