Do you want to sell??

If you  have a horde of lovely, good quality fabric, notions and other sewing accessories that are clogging up your life, and want to give others the chance to use it, fabricabrac is for you.

It works like this.

You pay for a trestle table to display your wares. It’s up to you to arrange it how you want.

You can share a table with friends, family, even people you don’t know. Or if it’s just you, and you don’t think you’ve got enough for a whole table, you can apply for a half table.

Please, reasonable prices – the better the bargains the more you’ll sell. You pay for a stall, and keep any money you make. We donate a percentage of your stall fee to the Hospice.

Although the main idea is that fabric-a-brac is about fabric, stallholders can sell patterns/buttons/trims/ accessories – plus sewing machines and almost anything you like, as long as it’s sewing-related and not a finished product. I have had a few enquiries about wool, and I think that’s fine, just shouldn’t be the dominating factor of your stall. NO finished items please – there are plenty of craft fairs you can go to!

Wellington (NZ) event, May 2015

Tables for this event are allocated on a ballot system. Please register your interest in a stall (link below) by 30 March 2015. The team will let you know if you have been successful on 6 April 2015.

If you haven’t got enough fabric for a whole stall, but you’ve got a few bits of quality fabric that you are happy to donate to a good cause – start digging them out… We will have a table to raise money for Hospice. Please if you could measure it (and label it with the width and length) before you drop it off that’d save us a heap of time.

  1. Hi There,

Im keen. If we are allowed only fabric ill have half a table. if you can sell clothes too ill have a whole table.

I have so much stuff to get rid of.

    Thanks,
    Vanessa

    • Hi Vanessa
It’s all about fabric and sewing accessories – things that aren’t things yet! So no clothes sorry – will put you down for a half table and send you the details.
      Yay!

  2. I have the hugest mountain of vintage fabric, collected over 5 years,
until recently I used to make a variety of products for retail outlets like Magnolia and Madder and Rouge. Now I am designing and illustrating so I don’t need it,
What a great way to give someone else the pleasure!
Can I have a whole stand please!
    Thanks, Ellen

      • Where is this located? Are you in the United States? What state is this run out of? I have fabric to sell but don’t know how or where to get to you for a table??

      • Hey there Yvette
Sounds great – but we are not in the US! We are in New Zealand, and we have an event in Australia. Sorry about that!

  3. Great idea, can I have a stand may only need a half but depends how big they are. I am imagining a trestle table …..a friend gave me your info so hope I can join up with your circle. I am a teacher in my other life but used to have my own business and have a lot of fabric and bits and bobs still cluttering up my storgae unit. So this is perfect opportunity to connect with people and haev some fun and move stuff along.

    Cheers
    Christine

  4. Hi Christine,
I’ll send you an email with the details you need – we’re getting pretty full so you have got in just in the nick of time! It should be heaps of fun so look forward to having you on board!

    • Hi Ngaere,
Alas, the last full table was booked up late yesterday. I can offer you a half table if you’re interested? It would just mean keeping some items behind the table maybe until you’d sold some. It’s going to be fun so would love to have you there. And if anyone pulls out you’ll get first dibs for a full table.
      JB

  28. Hi

I have few sample fabrics from India.( Shirt Materials and bed sheets) i would like to take an order if you want and sell those. Could you please advice me what i should do further?

    • Hi,
The way fabric-a-brac works is that you come and take a table to sell your items. We don’t provide an ordering service sorry. If you want to go on the mailing list to find out about future events let me know, or like us on facebook.

      Thanks!

    • Sure – if you live in NZ now, you can take a table at the event in November in Wellington. If you are still in Capetown that will be difficult! Have a look on the website and you can see all the details there including my email address to email me if you’d still like a table.

  29. Hi there, I have heaps of fabric I need to sell.

  32. JUST WONDERING HOW LARGE THE STALLS/TABLES WILL BE? IN THE 1980-90’S I HAD A ‘COTTAGE INDUSTRY BUSINESS’ IN BEDFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND:, CALLED THE LACE COTTAGE..I SHOWED AT THE HARROGATE GIFT FAIRS AND THE GIFT FAIR IN PARIS. WE MADE ALL LACE CUSHIONS, POT POURRI SACHETS AND SATIN AND LACE TRIMMED HANGERS. OUR PRODUCTS SOLD AT HARVEY NICHOLS LONDON. MY HUSBAND AND I RETIRED TO CHRISTCHURCH 10 YEARS AGO BUT HAVE RELOCATED TO AUCKLAND BEGINNING OF THE YEAR.
I STILL HAVE SEVERAL HUNDRED METERS OF CREAM ‘NOTTINGHAM’ LACE, DOUBLE SATIN CREAM COLOURED ‘OFFREY’ RIBBON AND VERY WIDE (60″) CREAM LACE FABRIC.AND CREAM SATIN FABRIC.
I ALSO HAVE SMALL AMOUNT OF LIBERTY PRINT FABRIC SUITABLE FOR SMALL CUSHIONS. ALSO SOME TRIMS: FLOWERS BEADS ETC….
WHAT IS THE COST OF A STAND?

  33. Hi there,
I was wondering if i could book half a table please & whats the set up times please and the cost.
    Many thanks
    Tina

  34. Random question – I’m making notebooks with old knitting patterns, books etc. Lovely books to write sewing/quilting notes in! If you think this would fit with your fabric theme I would love to book some space.

    Thanks, Michelle

    • Hi Michelle
Fabric-a-brac is all about things to make things, so no finished items. As much as your notebooks sound fantastic, they don’t really fit with this ethos – but I’m sure that they would go down brilliantly at a craft fair? Thanks for checking anyhow :))

  35. Hi my name is Val and I am from Michigan and have purchased tons of nice expensive fabric and arts and crafts over the years. None of it has even been used. Feel free to contact me 313-685-2706.

    • Gosh Valencia – the word is getting out. We’re in New Zealand and Australia only at the moment, and we’re purely event-based, so it is probably not relevant for you in the States. Would love to see your stash though! :)
